Yes, just use Feynman’s scientific method: 1) guess, 2) compute consequences 3) compare them to empirical data. Without good data it is not easy to create good guesses and it is impossible to compare consequences to data.
Guess ”it is CO2” is clearly wrong. ”it is the sun” guess is discussed in another thread and Tisdale has convinced me that ”it is the oceans” needs more research. It is a pity that we did not have Argos in the 1970s.
